An EgyptAir airliner has been hijacked and forced to divert to Larnaca airport on the south coast of Cyprus.

Flight MS181, an Airbus A320 carrying 81 passengers from Alexandria to Cairo, was taken over by at least one hijacker.
A passenger who said he was wearing a suicide belt ordered the flight crew to divert to Cyprus, EgyptAir said.
Cypriot police said those in control of the aircraft had made no immediate demands after it landed.
Larnaca airport has been closed and scheduled flights diverted elsewhere.

Thankfully it's landed which reduces the possible death toll to under one hundred from potentially thousands.

Some reports are suggesting that the hijacker wants a letter to be delivered to his ex-wife who lives in Larnaca.

Is the Egyptian postal service that bad?

So ! How did he get aboard ?

because airport security is near useless worldwide, anyone serious can bypass the fig leaf of protection as we repeatedly see.

Or he doesn't have a real suicide belt on him and has constructed a fake one from things which are allowed through security.

At this stage none of us have any idea what's going on.

A loan Veterinary nut, seems he only has a few hostages left (cabin crew) after most have walked out.

Not the best way to get access to your kids in my opinion (if that's what it's about)

Such difficulty suggests that we all need a drop-dead gorgeous Jonathan Pine in our lives to woo their way through hardships indestructibly. The only price in hiring him as delivery man would be the fact that he would undoubtedly bed said wife seconds after she opens the door to him.

Reports that he's let out all the hostages and is on his own in the plane.

What the ...

Such a strange story. Why did he not just buy a ticket to Cyprus in the first place? Was it supposed to be some 'grand' gesture?

Anyway bloke is going to spend his life in prison now, so probably not the outcome he was looking for.
