There's plenty of good music being made in Britain and around the world but don't expect TV and mainstream radio to play it to you.

The internet is your friend.

Just follow Buzzer's links: he posts so much stuff. Some of it is great, some not so ... but he does the listening for you

If you use Spotify, the weekly discovery thing is great. Every Monday a thirty track playlist is selected for you based on your listening habits. The algorithm works fantastically well and provides me with loads of new stuff to listen to, as well as things I know and like but haven't heard in a while.

There is another on YouTube which is rubbish quality but I love the comment......

"Michael Jackson's version is a Top 40 sissy version. Graham has more soul than Jackson...and he's a white guy. And he's still alive!....."

This seems to have mutated into a "British Music, lets get Graham Parker back ......" thread

Simply, because Punk opened up the music scene.

For you it did but no more so than jazz, blues, swing, big band, rock & roll, Mersey, pop, Mowtown, folk, protest, Brit/psychedelic/prog/blues/stadium rock, soul, R&B, country, reggae/bluebeat/ska, disco/dance, new wave, funk, glam rock, hip-hop, heavy metal, grunge, gangsta rap, to miss out a few! It just depends on your age and perspective.
