Albion pay tribute to Jack Mansell.

Brighton & Hove Albion are saddened by the news that former defender Jack Mansell has passed away aged 88.
*
Mansell arrived at the club in 1949, initially on trial after being on Manchester United’s books as an amateur.
*
The defender established himself as a left-back in the side and made a total of 122 appearances for the Seagulls, scoring 11 goals in three years on the south coast.
*
He combined his playing responsibilities for the club with a coaching role at County League side Littlehampton, and also held regular sessions at the King Alfred in Hove.

*
He also played in the first-ever Football League game staged under floodlights, a 2-0 home defeat by Newcastle United in 1956.
*
