When it comes to anti war marches millions turn out but where is the anti IS march that muslim's can also attend to show their contempt for the scum? Why does everyone go so quiet, is it because anyone who attended would be labelled a racist?

The Anti-War marches are intended to show the powers-that-be the strength of opposition to war, so that they are aware of the sentiments when they make the decision to send other people's children off to fight wars. Maybe they listen, maybe they don't.

An Anti-IS march would serve what purpose? Who would the message be directed at? What are the chances that IS see that march and think 'oh my god, they don't like us. Let's pack it in lads'? Do you think the powers-that-be might believe we don't want anything done about IS if we don't march against them?

Because the only public opinion IS care about is fear ..... you could get 60m people at an anti-IS march and they wouldn't give a toss. In fact they'd probably bomb it.

There was a Potential Terrorists welcome here demonstration in London 4 days ago .

I was on a brisk 3 mile walk from the far side of Hyde Park to theatre-land and happened across this march which was taking up most of Regent Street. It was unfortunate I couldn't hang about because there was a "welcoming committee" at Piccadilly Circus waving Union Jacks and ringed by police. It was sure to get interesting when the march reached them.

Perhaps the Muslim community doing them on mass across the world send out a message these people are outcast and will not be accepted or tolerated.

It wouldn't.The majority of the targets for the group are other Muslims. They see them as apostates, worse than unbelievers like us.

It would be aimed at:
young Muslims who could be radicalised, to show them that the majority of Muslims don't think killing is right
westerners, to show that the majority of Muslims support the society they live in, and reject the extremists that claim to fight in the name of their god

Really? The airport, underground, outside a football stadium at a concert, in dinning areas all seem fairly random and not in areas where they would be packed with the majority being muslim?

Literally the stupidest idea in the history of ideas, ever. Sorry.

On opening the thread I completely assumed this was going to be a joke.

Why is it so stupid. Surely the world uniting, including people who share the religion that these vermin claim to act under, to protest and ostracize them would be better than doing nothing?

If this is the most stupid idea in the history of ideas you must have had your head up your arse since birth.

Any such march could only have an objective of outlining that IS is unpopular, be that by Muslims or any other human on the planet.
Unfortunately, IS don't give a monkey's about being popular, in fact, their actions would seem unpopular with all humanity.

this is going to get nasty......european govts. are being bought out so it will be down to the public to defend themselves , once things reach a certain point all hell is going to break loose and isis will get what it wants ......the complete de-stabilisation of europe , failure by the e.u governments to allow individual police forces to deal with problem areas in their own countries will contribute directly to mainland erope being dragged into a very nasty situation.......in my opinion of course.

Obviously not working is it. Maybe more can be done?

I don't think you fully understand what ISIS want. They are not making demands, there is nothing that we (the west) can give them that they want.

Right now, they believe they are following and fulfilling prophecies that have predicted an apocalyptic battle between Islam and the west. They want to 'purify' the world by murdering westerners and apostates. They are following what they believe to be a prophecy that will ultimately result in a final global apocalypse, followed by a worldwide Islamic caliphate, with no countries or borders.

You can march all you like against that, but it isn't going to make a squat of difference to ISIS and their ideology.

One reason for marches against the government is to get them to change their minds about a given course of action. They do this because any given protestor knows that the government is (supposedly) accountable to those people.

IS, on the other hand, are not. They're a law unto themselves, wherever they operate.

If it's a protest about their behaviour you want, look no further than the vigils, the unity and the compassion in the face of their attempted disruption of our society and culture.

That says far more the any pointless demonstration.

Besides which, if it did take place, it wouldn't take much for a few ignorant boneheads to turn it from an anti-IS demonstration into an anti-muslim demonstration, thereby completely playing into IS' hands.
