George Osborne will set out £4bn in extra spending cuts and announce investment in the UK's infrastructure when he presents his Budget to MPs.

The chancellor has set himself a target of achieving a surplus by 2019-20.

His eighth Budget will also include a £1.5bn education package forcing all state schools tobecome academies*and allowing some to open later in the day.


But he will still promise to set aside new funds for pet projects, including extending the school day for secondary pupils; backing transport infrastructure schemes; and developing technologies, including driverless cars.

Mr Osborne will deliver his Budget at 12:30 GMT, after Prime Minister's Questions, setting out the latest economic forecasts and the state of the public finances.

You forgot to mention the bit where he intends to take money from the disabled to help finance this!

George Osborne is expected to announce that The Money Advice Service – which provides financial and debt advice to consumers – is to be abolished.

It was set up in 2010, but was criticised in a series of reports.

One study found that few people had even heard of it. The National Audit Office said it hadn’t been providing value for money.

Yes, but haven't they just devolved business rates from central to local government? So local authorities will bear the brunt of this reduction in rates -- more cuts to social care?

in reality, if you are currently 38-55 you will retire when 67, if under 38 you'll retire at 68, and so on, those born in the last decade will retire at 73.

Sugar levy on soft drinks firms in 2018. Assessed on volume of drinks and amount of sugar (not pure fruit juice).

Tax effects behaviour...the £530m raised will be spent doubling funding for sport in primary schools, and further spending in secondary schools.

Nice one George.
