Some of the teams at the bottom are doing rather well

against the top teams. MK Dons have had some good results recently too, worryingly.

Anyway just had a look at the table and it looks like avoiding relegation is going to require a higher than normal number of points this season? Playing any of them will be a banana skin now as they battle the drop.

MK Dons will be a massive game for us if we can beat Reading. Hope the other clubs down the bottom can continue to help our cause.

Rotherham perhaps best but milton and charlton are unbeaten in a few...brentford and huddersfield could get sucked in if bristol and fulham pick up

I was thinking the same. Playing against teams fighting for their lives can be as tough as playing against teams at the top.

The best games to play are against mid table sides that have nothing to play for and are in a bad run of form. You know....Forest.

I think Fulham could be in trouble,

Had this happened 12 months ago, we'd be playing Chesterfield et al, this season.

This happens towards the end of any season in virtually any division, clubs near the bottom are fighting for their survival and teams near the top start to get nervous as the finishing line approaches and the pressure builds.

Peterborough went down with 52 points only a couple of seasons ago, the Championship is a funny division. The gap in standard between most teams is generally quite small. Happily for us last season there weren't any good teams at the bottom end of the table, every team was pretty much rubbish. Bournemouth and Watford got promoted from a poor Championship, this season is a much higher standard but it's not really clear why that is. More teams better organised possibly?

This "fighting for their lives" line is bollox - as if they have not really been arsed before now but suddenly started to look interested.
The real story is the teams at the top bottling it, lets not be one of them.
We are near the top of the table for a reason, they are near the bottom of the table for a reason.
We need to make this clear when play MK Dongs, Fulham and Charlton. Carpe Diem.

So after 5 games, are the players thinking we might go down here if the side has had a poor start?
After 10 games, does a relegation battle play on the mind of players, or do they still think that promotion is a possibilty?

so then with around 10 games to go and only a handful of points above the drop zone, with teams below you starting to pick up points sides realise that they may be in trouble and start to fight for every point

It's like teams fighting for promotion, do they throw everything after a win in every one of the first handful of games of the season, rather than settling for a draw at times, when that result could ultimately be the difference between success and failure or because the final outcome is so far away that the reality of how important that result could be doesn't register. - the end of the season and every point matters until mathematically safe or promoted
