At half-time on Monday night, with Leeds giving us all our Christmas presents in one go, we were discussing the famous Albion stuffing of Walsall in 1976.

As many an Albion fan will recall the score was 7-0, and all scored in the second half (Ward 4, Mellor 3). The weather was atrocious, lashing it down, so me and my friends decided stand on the terraces underneath the West Stand for a bit of protection.

Mullers was not at all happy with the boys and sent them out early for the second half. It obviously worked!

Now the thing is, and this where I need help, was it the North or South Stand goal where we scored the magnificent seven?

Time for my nap.

Bunch of lightweights.

I think it was the south stand goal.

Yes all goals scored in the South Stand goal. I took a mate from college for his first Albion game that night and we went into the North Stand. He had a great night singing the songs and jumping up and down when we scored but sadly he didn't go to another match to my knowledge.

yep South Stand

used to stand on the South west corner with the old man

what with the weather that night was nicely tucked in behind the goal

sweet revenge because we'd lost 6-0 up at Fellows Park a couple of season's earlier

South
me and one of my mates moved along the East terrace

Was that Pornomagboy's uncle?

We were in the South-West. It was a filthy night. Only 14,000 I think, which was low for that season.

The thing that hacks me off is that I saw hundreds of Albion games from the 60's onwards but can hardly remember any of the detail of specific matches when some of you lot seem to have photographic memories

it is amazing how the memory works

e.g.

I can clearly remember a Bristol Rovers free kick in the 8-2 game

Brian Powney should have gathered the ball easily, but spilled it for an easy tap in for one of the advancing Rovers forwards

ask me who won the FA Cup 5 years ago,I wouldn't know with any certainty

In the same year, we beat York City 7-2...and the game was on MOTD.

Memory and old age, two things that don't go together.
I too have the prog so must have been there. My Daughter came to Cardiff couple of weeks ago and we got DRENCHED. How do I explain that all winter I would stand on the East in rain, snow and sometimes sunshine and enjoy it?

I'm pretty sure I was probably there but wouldn't stake my life on it. Also I often see clips of games on the tv or Internet and remember them well but can never recall whether I was actually at the game or had only seen it on tv originally

I was 7 years old and it was past my bed time. I remember that it was autumn and my brother was in hospital. I was really upset yet I remember Dad telling me that Albion had put seven past Walsall. It cheered me up.

I'm with you on this one, I appear to have dementia in reverse! Though I do remember this one quite vividly, I think!
