The club's planning application has been rejected.

The astonishing decision by Brighton & Hove City Council to reject the club's planning application for a hotel and cancer treatment centre, alongside the American Express Community Stadium, was considered at a recent Brighton & Hove Albion board meeting.
*
The club's board was extremely disappointed by the planning committee's decision, and are of the view that the planning committee did not properly take into account the huge social and economic benefits for the city and the support it would have given to the club.*

Furthermore, the design of the hotel was undertaken by the same architects responsible for the stadium, and carried out to complement it, as well as other new buildings in the immediate vicinity of the site. The board does not agree that the hotel's design is not in keeping with the stadium, or that it would detract from views of the stadium.
*
The proposed development was also designed within a strictly controlled budget and the design reflected the requirements of a range of partners.*
*
The board has therefore decided to put the development on hold while it consults with its partners in the project to see if there is a way forward.[h=3]ALBION V SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY
