Been getting really annoyed with videos playing when I go to a website, TheArgus is a good example, but these days they all seem to have them to some degree.
Found some simple tips which have made my browsing experience much less frustrating.
I use Firefox, here's how to do it with that:
Press Ctrl-L to go to the address bar, and type in the local URL about:addons.
Click Plugins in the left pane.
Find Shockwave Flash in the list of plug-ins.
Click the Always Activate pop-up menu on the right, and select Ask to Activate.
