Sam Baldock*believes he gave the perfect response to Bristol City fans who booed him – by completing a goalscoring double.
The Albion striker was on target against his old club in last night’s 4-0 romp.
He was booed by some home supporters on his first return to Ashton Gate since leaving the club early last season.
But many more sportingly applauded him off when he was substituted in the second half.
Fit-again Baldock, enjoying a first start since November, said: “I was pleased with the goal. I hit it well and it’s a great feeling when the ball hits the back of the net.
“I’ve got no hard feelings for this club.

“I enjoyed my second season here – not the relegation season, I don’t think anybody did.
“But I owe them a lot for getting me back on track I suppose and getting the 26 goals I scored in that season.”
Baldock, who also netted against City at the Amex this season, said of the booing: “It’s pantomime. If they want me to react, I’m not going to.
“I think a couple of minutes after getting booed I stuck one into the net. That is the best response you can give as a player.”
Albion bounced back in style from their 4-1 hammering at Cardiff Jamie Murphy, who fired the early opener, added: “We wanted to put right the performance on Saturday.
“You don’t want five or six shots on goal and none go in. I think we will take two shots in the first half and both of them go in!”
