Hugely overpaid players, many on long contracts. For many, even if they were never to play again, it doesn't matter ... might be even preferable not to play again!

Winston Bogarde anyone?

This total collapse has been coming for a few years. The club needs changing from top to bottom and it's going to take a long time. Hopefully Palace will follow suit soon.

It's a club which has been incredibly poorly managed since Martin O'Neill left. You could argue the rot started under him a little bit, with big investment and high ambitions but they did finish 5th twice in a row not all that long ago. A succession of horrendous managers and ordinary, average players have followed and now their squad is absolutely LITTERED with rubbish players. They need a whole new team for next season and to get rid of the jokers throughout the entire club. Remi Garde was a fool for taking the job, and he'd be an even bigger fool to stay on there in the summer. They need an Allardyce to come in and sort the mess of a squad out.

Surely, he should just drop the first team players and put in the shining lights from the u21 team......otherwise what is the point of having a squad and all going to training every day?

Just go back to Calderon's first appearance for us. Aston Villa were miles ahead of us on talent. They had the likes of Albrighton, Milner, Young etc. Where as we had Jim McNulty playing. (still only lost 3-2)

How times have changed.

Why would you pick out Jim McNulty? He was a quality player and it's a real shame how that went in the end.

This doesn't mean much does it. A bunch of overpaid over rated players who probably didn't give a shit were beaten by young talented and eager to impress youngsters.

He got subbed off in that game. Marc Albrighton completely destroyed him. I got the impression Poyet had seen enough of him in that match.

Marc Albrighton's a good player, I'm not disputing Jim had a tough afternoon but it seemed strange to me to pick him out as an example of the gulf in class. He never had a full run in the team here, it would have been different but for the Crewe incident. He's one of the great examples of players who never fulfilled their potential with us, for one reason or another. Also, talking of Albrighton - the fact he was released by Villa and could end up winning the league this season typifies their general off field shambles to match their on field impotency. Still, they did beat Palace!
