Brighton & Hove Albion manager Chris Hughton has hailed the impact of the more senior players in his squad this season.*The Seagulls boss feels that the blend of youth and experience within the club is reaping dividends in Albion’s push for promotion to the Premier League.Chris Hughton

He said, “They’ve [experienced players] been massively important. There are some players you would put into that category, certainly not of the ages of what Bruno and Gordon [Greer] are, but ones like Liam Rosenior.

“Even Gaeten [Bong] and Uwe [Huenemeier], they fall into that category of experience. [Tomer] Hemed’s 28 and they fall into that category of experienced players.

“They’ve had a big value to the team and the squad this season.”
Hughton praised the performances of Inigo Calderon at left-back this season, particularly after his impressive display against Robert Snodgrass at Hull on Tuesday night.

“He’s played a lot of games at left-back and left wing -back, and has been very comfortable on that side.
*
"There’s no doubt that Calde is more of a right-back than a left-back, but it’s not a position that’s completely out of his comfort zone.
*
“There would be some right-backs that would find it very uncomfortable in that position, but Calde doesn’t fit into that category.
*
“He has a good level of comfort on that left-hand side. ”

“To be up against that quality of player [Snodgrass] speaks volumes of Calde and what he gives us.”

The Albion manager then looked ahead to two more away fixtures at Cardiff this afternoon and Bristol City on Tuesday, highlighting the importance of turning draws into victories on the road.

"If we had a choice then of course we would rather win more games away from home, but generally that's easier said than done.

"If you looked at three of the best teams in this league in Derby, Burnley and Hull, we've managed to get draws against all of those away from home. They are all good draws, but if we had a choice we would want more wins, but it's tough.

"In this league especially, you look at some of the top teams going away to teams not doing so well and losing games."It's always that balance that if you are getting away draws and lots of wins at home then you are going to be there or thereabouts.

"It might be that difference between a position that you want to be in and where you end up finishing."
