The Ricoh in Coventry seems to be able to attract gigs fairly well. As yet the Amex not so much.
This summer Coventry plays host to Rihanna and Bruce Springsteen. Cant understand why we seem to struggle to attract big names.

The Ricoh didnt have The Rugby World Cup.
Which means it also didn't have one of the greatest Rugby matches ever played.

Do we really try to get them I guess is the answer

The effect on the pitch can be horrendous. We (well Tony) own our stadium and have more say over who and what use it. Do we use our 2 non sporting events?

The Ricoh is privately owned and used as a revenue stream. they probably have to gaurentee some level of quality pitch, however unless Coventry want to play at Northampton again they really don't have much option in the short term

What does the Ricoh have the the Amex doesn't?

I have a son-in-law who works in sound engineering.

According to specialists in his universe that he's spoken to - the Ricoh has very good acoustics for stadium concerts, arguably better than most or even all of the new stadia built in the past 10-15 years or so.

Planning Permission, wasn't there a restriction on the non-football use of The Amex

Was under the impression it was council owned, the football club owed them a shitload of rent which they refused to pay, hence they were booted out. Has something changed in ownership?
