Brighton & Hove Albion defender Inigo Calderon was delighted to be back in the side last night as the Seagulls drew 0-0 at table-topping Hull City. The Spaniard was recalled to the team at left-back after loanee Liam Ridgewell returned to parent club Portland Timbers and he hailed the significance of gaining a potentially crucial point.
He said, “I think it was a good point and a fair result. It’s not easy to come here and get a clean sheet, so we had to dig in.
“Maybe for the people watching it wasn’t the best game, but there were two very good teams working very hard and trying to put everything into winning the game.
“I have been waiting for my chance and the only thing you can do is try to take it in the best way. It’s not easy and you have to keep fit, but training is not the same as playing games. Mentally you always have to be ready to play games.”

The experienced full-back praised the overall strength in depth within the squad and feels Albion have proved their promotion credentials by claiming draws at Burnley, Derby and now Hull.“It’s great that we’re having a lot of players coming back from injury and it’s going to be more complicated for the manager to pick the team. It’s important that we have a bigger squad and hopefully we can all play to help the team.
“When we were top of the league, it may have been a surprise to some people and we are underdogs, but we’ll have a great chance if we keep playing like we did last night.
“We have done that before against top teams like Derby and Burnley and we had to be to very good to get those results away from home. But it’s going to be so close in every game we play and the small details will make a difference.”
