Albion picked up a valuable 0-0 draw away to the leaders – helped by a fine late save by David Stockdale.
The Seagulls were compact, tidy and well organised away to a Hull City side boasting the best home record in the Championship.
And they took the point they deserved as Stockdale, who had had a quiet evening against his old club, tipped Sam Clucas’s drive on to the post.
Hull struggled to threaten Chris Hughton’s side, in which Steve Sidwell started in a five-man midfield.

Albion could have taken a second half lead when Lewis Dunk curled inches past the top corner.A tight, technical, tactical first half saw the Seagulls keep the ball for long periods and keep the home crowd quiet.

There was one chance apiece for the two sides. Jamie Murphy forced the only save with a fierce drive which Allan McGregor pushed behind after a neatly constructed counter attack involving Tomer Hemed and Sidwell.

Tom Huddlestone shot narrowly wide at the other end from just outside the box.
