Why was that such hard work?

West west west Sussex
10 men behind the ball.

Which was a little odd as every time they had to chase the game, Bolton looked half decent.

Bolton looked there for the taking in the first 10 mins and never really looked dangerous - and if it wasn't for Stockdale it could easily have been a draw.

Why was that such hard work?

Because our defending was crap , we were not solid until the last 20 mins ,

Our defence continues to look quite fragile, but credit to Bolton, we've seen far worse visiting teams this season. Thought their number 15 did a half-decent job of frustrating Knockaert who couldn't quite manage to wriggle his way through on goal. On another day he'd have run AMOK. Nevermind. Onwards and upwards!

It was the sort of game we would have lost a few months ago.
Thankfully we now are capable of scoring goals a plenty.

I was never in any doubt we would win. They were very poor defensively, and we were sloppy.

I'm a bit peeved we didn't give them the thumping they deserved.

Every win bar the Brentford one has been hard work, so no surprise at all that today was too

But would you not think this is the type of team we need to beat by a 3 or 4 margin?

Well Bolton weren't a team to just roll over and play to their league position. For sure they were no great shakes, but maybe we got a bit complacent, happy to roll the ball around at the back just a couple of passes too many. Defence is certainly nowhere near as good as it thinks it is, and remains highly vulnerable to ANY side that fancies taking the game to them.

Could see a scrappy game coming from a mile off. Just glad we got the three points.

There were some really scrappy games in that long March run under Poyet in league 1, Dagenham away springs to mind. But they all contributed towards our promotion.

When we're fouled on the edge of the opponents area, I'd rather we were given a free-kick than for the ref to play an advantage that sees the other side scoring. ****ing useless ****.

Slightly odd - we never seemed like we were in danger or going to do anything other than win, yet they twice came back. Very odd game. Enjoyed it though.
