Boost for Albion as Rosenior closes on a comeback [The Argus]

LIAM ROSENIOR is closing in on his comeback to ease Albion’s left-back crisis.
But next Tuesday’s trip to his old club and fellow promotion challengers Hull City is likely to come just too soon for the utility player.
Rosenior trained yesterday for the first time since suffering knee ligament damage at the end of November.
He was deputising at left-back for Gaetan Bong, who ruptured a thigh tendon in October and is also now on the verge of a return to training.
Inigo Calderon and Liam Ridgewell, who makes the final appearance of his loan spell from Portland Timbers against Bolton Wanderers at the Amex tomorrow, have covered the position in the meantime.
A precise timescale for Rosenior’s return to first team action is unclear, with trips to Hull, Cardiff and Bristol City looming in the space of a week after the Bolton game.
Hughton told The Argus: “We’re not sure, it’s close.
“Originally when we signed Liam (Ridgewell) we were hopeful that we were going to have him for another week. That ended up not being the case.
“Liam (Rosenior) has done a lot of work. Gaetan will train on Sunday.
“In terms of Tuesday (at Hull) and Saturday (at Cardiff) Liam would be closer than Gaetan. How close we will have to see how he does in the next couple of days.
“The plus, of course, is that Calde came in and covered that position very well, so it’s not as if we are going into the Hull game without somebody that hasn’t played there. Calde is very capable.”
Meanwhile, Sam Baldock (calf) and Bobby Zamora, substituted at half-time in last Friday’s home win against Brentford, are both available to face Bolton, together with recent Czech signing Jiri Skalak, but captain Gordon Greer (hamstring) is still sidelined. The centre-half, who has played only once since Boxing Day, is scheduled to resume training next week.
