The recent thread mentioning 6Music reminded me that Mark Radcliffe has, for some considerable time, had a feature on his radio shows called 'The Chain.' For those that haven't heard it, the concept is that a song is nominated and then listeners suggest another song with a link to it. The link can be virtually anything: artists that have worked together, songs with the same word in the title, record company links, bands with names that could be themed etc. The options are endless.

I thought that, with all the musos on NSC, we could give this a go and may go some interesting places. On Radcliffe's version, he has control and chooses one suggestion to take the chain on to the next link. The nature of the site means that NSC's version is bound to have multiple suggestions and different threads could go off in different directions. This doesn't seem a problem. It may even be possible for someone to relink threads with a single suggestion further down the line.

If anyone fancies giving it a go jump in.

It seems that I should honour the steal of the concept by taking Fleetwood Mac's 'The Chain' as the starting point, so here it is:

I'm going to link it to Booker T and The MG's 'Soul Limbo' as they were both used as themes for BBC Sports Programmes. Here's 'Soul Limbo'

Over to you lot to continue. Simply name (rather than requote) the previous song, give your nominated song and the reason for connecting the two.

At the risk of talking to myself, I think the ends can be tied:

Singer of 'Mandy' Barry Manilow has covered Joni Mitchell's 'River,' she used to live with Graham Nash who was in The Hollies:

Well in that case, I'll chuck in this one, which also ties in rather neatly with the bus stop of the previous post.

To tie up Studio 150 and Albumen's ends:

The Smiths can be linked in to Connolly's appearance on Not The Nine O'Clock News with Mel Smith and Gryff Rees Jones.

Billy Connolly's song was a parody of Tammy Wynette's. Tammy was married to another Jones:
