Yes, would cost me over £10 return with bus to station and train to Falmer from Eastbourne without the travel pass - so 23 league matches thats over £230 off the season ticket price for me

That's the problem when these figures are worked out for the clubs in the Championship.
They never take into account the travel concession that's included and they never allow for the monthly DD system, which is actually an interest-free loan for the season.

Even so, it would still be interesting to see how the numbers stack up against other clubs in the League, especially the ones pushing for promotion in the Championship. It's all well and good saying that travel discounts end up saving fans a fortune, but if they club is taking liberties elsewhere then it's kind of a hollow concession.

This isstrategy used by any firm that have a geographical advantage it designed to get maximum value out of the scarcity power they hold. If they charge a high price for the lavish in the form of expensive programmes, pies and teas to those who are willing to pay it and subsidise travel for the thrifty or more price concerned then they get the best of both worlds and the ability to maximise profits... It is economics 101.

I'm not sure how you can claim "but if the club is taking liberties elsewhere then it's kind of a hollow concession", because you are in charge of your own spending once you have your matchday ticket. I would suggest overspending is down to the individual, not the club. We are not forced to buy merchandise, food or drink.

Why?
Travel subsidy won't be more than £5.00 out of each ticket.
Based on my prices, sell an extra 2000 tickets per game at approx £20.00 per ticket = £40k. Minus the travel subsidy at max £5.00 per ticket = £30k extra income per game and that's a very conservative figure.
Then add on all other revenue from the extra 2000 supporters.

Off peak day returns to Falmer from Haywards Heath are £6.80 and £7.40 from Worthing I think.
Whilst the quality of Piglets' Pies has been a bit variable, they are streets ahead of the shite you get in other grounds, so worth paying a premium for IMO.

Or the club could just change their supplier to Pukka Pies for around 2.50/3.00 a throw and everyone on NSC could moan about how crap they are... surely not!

Yes on a single ticket purchase.
BHA would have negotiated the price due to the extra 20,000 train tickets sold every other week.
The actual travel subsidy can't be more than £5.00 per ticket.

So at the moment there are say 5,000 STH's in those three places, reduce their cost by say £150 each = 75k lost income and then add in your extra £40k gives a loss of £35k or do you propose those existing STH's pay the higher price.
