We now control our own destiny, lots of goals, lots of wins, beat Hull, beat Middleborough, automatic promotion is ours to lose.
Life feels good after a 3-0 win.

The soak it up, hit em on the break style Hughton prefers is ideal for away games against top sides too

If we go on a very good run from now, we'll finish on 87 points (2 ppg).

87-89 points typically seals 2nd place.

As much as I'd love to grab that second spot, I don't think we'll manage 2 points per game.
We'll finish 3rd-4th imo.

But mathematically is hasn't been in our hands since December, until today.

So true, and if I was a Boro, Hull, Burnley, or Derby supporter I could make the same claim.

Fact is all teams are likely to slip up against 'weaker' opposition, so any suggestion that beating Boro and or Hull will get us automatic is way off the mark right now. 5 or 6 games out perhaps, but lots of banana skins for everyone between now and then

We brushed aside a decent Brentford side last night and I looked at our bench and thought it was packed with quality and that is without baldock and the Czech to come in. Let's not forget this side were top of the league unbeaten with the chance to put us out of sight before Dunk saw red against Derby. Boro and Hull are not streets ahead of us and we have a squad and management team packed with cool heads and experience

Bring on the rest of the season we are firmly in this race

Win all our remaining games (not likely) and we don't need to worry about GD.
Promotion would be guaranteed as Boro and Hull have to play each other.

Tough games ahead though.
We are the only top 6 team that still has to play each of the other 5.

I have been saying the same to my son who thinks we will miss out on automatic by goal difference. My view is it will be decided on points not goals.

Not true. If Hull beat boro, but they both win all their other games (except against us) we'll all be on the same points.
