Looking at his entry on Wikipedia, he'd be written off before he'd kicked a ball for us without giving him a chance (if signed)

Some players do well at one club without an obvious explanation why so if true and he does sign, he should be given a chance

edit: see it is already happening

Norwich striker Kyle Lafferty sees loan move to Sion break down
Norwich striker Kyle Lafferty is facing more transfer frustration after a return to Sion broke down.

The Swiss club had made a move to take the Northern Ireland international on loan until the end of the season.

But Lafferty is keen to stay in England ahead of Euro 2016 and now faces a race against time to secure a move away from Carrow Road before Monday's transfer deadline.

At least he's available and willing to move, unlike our other targets (i guess) so more likely 2 + 2 = 5

Got a feeling Brian Owen will be redundant where we are concerned tomorrow. Happy to be wrong.

It's clear that a pending cheque of £7m for a suitable striker will be torn up. The problem being the word 'suitable'. There ain't one.

These are very wise words and you might as well scream them in to a void. Strengthening from a position of strength means just that, making us better, Knockaert has. Sidwell will. Towell is a cheap gamble. Chucking big dollar on the last day of the window has previously seen us stuck with Dobbie. Lafferty would be WORSE.

Not sure the cheque was ever readied to be honest

So if Calleri had said yes and wanted to join us, do you think that we would have then said sorry we have changed our minds and don't really want you after all or would we have signed him?

I think we would have signed him or someone for that sort of money had they been available and more importantly willing to join

I'm quite happy to go with the idea we're looking for value in the market. That seems entirely sensible. If we find a decent target for a decent price we'll go in and it has worked too (Knockaert, Kayal two really good fee-paying examples). I don't want to see us spunk wages on someone like Lafferty. There is a cheque there but only an absolute certainty or absolute bargain will see it spent. Simples. And sensible.

Think its amazing that naylor takes deadline day off being a predominantly football based sports reporter

Good point, timely made.

It just shows he's given up being anything other than a medium sized fish in a small pond. That's really sad but not surprising given his limited writing, poor track record and the state of print media. He's probably hanging on for as big a redundancy cheque as is legally allowed.
