Albion in the Community (AITC) are giving teenagers the chance represent the charity at futsal or football while they learn.
*
AITC is recruiting for a number of BTEC courses due to begin in September 2016 and they want to hear from any interested 16- 18-year-olds.
*
As well as studying towards sporting qualifications, participants will represent AITC on the pitch in either an 11-a-side squad or a futsal team – competing weekly against similar schemes from Premier League and Football League clubs.
*
AITC currently have places on two full-time BTEC courses: the Level 2 Certificate in Sport, equivalent to four GCSEs; and the Level 3 Diploma in Sport (Performance and Excellence), which is equivalent to three A Levels.
*
Participants will train a minimum of three times a week and play competitive fixtures against the likes of Chelsea, Tottenham and Southampton.
*
The futsal teams train at the University of Sussex with head futsal coach Owen Fisher and Albion legend Danny Cullip, competing in the Football League Trust Futsal League. Games take place bi-weekly at The Copper Box Arena in the London 2012 Olympic Park.

The 11-a-side team benefits from training sessions at the Sussex County FA’s 3G pitch at Culver Road in Lancing under the guidance of former Albion fans’ favourite Guy Butters. They compete in the Under-19 National Development League.
*
AITC’s BTEC programme is now entering its fourth year and has proved to be hugely beneficial to many talented young footballers. A number of players have played futsal for England while the qualifications have helped participants secure places at university, full football scholarships in America and business apprenticeships.
*
And it isn’t just for teenagers from Brighton or Hove. The current squad has players from across Sussex, including Bognor Regis, Crawley, Eastbourne and Bexhill.
*
Trial dates for September 2016 applicants take place next month (15th and 16th February for 11-a-side and 17th and 19th February for futsal) and anyone who would like to attend should e-mail info@albioninthecommunity.org.uk or call 01273 878 260 or 07876 898030 to book a place.
*
Alternatively, they can attend AITC’s open evening on Thursday 18th February between 6pm and 8pm at the American Express Community Stadium.[h=3]ALBION V BRENTFORD
