Been looking into these this morning after a couple of mildly unsavoury moments in recent weeks.

Was just wondering if anyone has one/recommendations? Price isn't really an issue but I doubt I'd want to spend anything over and above £150/200. But I do want the rear view mirror version and not the dash type.

Couple that caught my eye were the;

  • HD CAR DVR Rear View Mirror G SENSOR 32GB SD card accident camera video recorder HDVR-150
  • Aiptek GS 372 Full HD Rear View Mirror Dash Camera

Any thoughts?

Also do any firms fit them to take power directly from the battery as opposed to unsightly cords running down to the 12v socket?

Input gratefully received.

I have a mi-witness fitted to my jag. Very good bit of kit, incs a rear camera as well. I paid to have it hardwired into the electrics but that wasn't done properly (long story) - so I just pull out the power lead when it is parked up for any length of time to avoid battery drain. I really need a car electrician to sort it for me.

It does make me laugh that when someone on north stand chat posts something about spending money on something luxurious they get abuse for doing so. It is his money which I assume he has earned through hard work as opposed to immoral earnings. Why the grief?

And I have nothing to add to the technical debate of car cameras.

They can wire it into the power feed for the indicators as these are generally unused on German cars

This big time! And if you naturally take the security issue so seriously on your expensive car as such that your budget is unlimited, is your first port of call for advice a football chat site? Frankly, I'd be researching elsewhere on specialist sites.

O/T but reminds me of all the drivers of very expensive cars I see using their ******* mobile phones - if you can spend tens of thousands on a car, get a hands-free kit FFS..........

Would you have felt better if I had posted 50 quid and a mini, even though I want a better one or a mini would have been of no use? There, there I have fed your childish minds, I'm so happy. Pack mentality at it's usual delinquent level in NSC.

Please delete if you see this @ the mods, I'll ask somewhere with grown ups.
