"Senior executives at all professional clubs will be compelled to meet supporters on major strategic issues at least twice a year under plans contained in a government report on fan engagement.

The agreement will be written in the rules of the Premier League and the Football League, along with a commitment to consult with fans over changes to a club’s traditional name or colours.

The working group, set up to look specifically into issues around supporter ownership and engagement, has also negotiated an extra £1m of funding from the Premier League on ownership issues and a promise of ring-fenced funding to help with the costs associated with launching an ownership bid."

Barber won't be happy..

"Commitment to consult" - government speak for holding a meeting, 'listening' to all points of view, and then doing whatever you planned to do in the first place.

(This is not a knock at the Albion - by most accounts our club is better than many in this respect).

Interesting with all thats going on at whitehawk currently to see the bit about fan consultation on name changes.
I know they fall below the level involved but for it to be deemed important to uphold such things seems to be a move in the right direction

Agree. A few beardy traditionalists will be jumping for joy but effectively all they are doing is trying to curry favour with a section of the electorate!!!
