We want pound for pound hardness. Consider all facets of hardness before voting. Don't let these beasts down by voting without thinking. Their lives are on the line.

Malayan Sun Bear

WHC IX performance:

Group D: 2nd 25 votes(21.37%)

The Malayan Sun Bear could be this years surprise package. After laying some ground work in WHC VIII the sun bear has gained some real popular support, finishing above former Champion Orca in group D. The knock out rounds are where things get serious so it'll be interesting to see how strong that support is. Could it go all the way?

What does the M.S.B have in its locker that has got the fans excited? Basically, it comes down to attitude and aggression. It's the smallest of the bears and doesn't eat a lot of meat so it hasn't honed it's fighting and killing skills out of necessity. Instead it's just an aggressive little bugger that will attack for no perceptible reason and when it does attack there's no mucking about-it goes straight for the head, trying to rip its victims face off and destroy its skull.

African Elephant

WHC IX performance:

Group C: 4th place 16 votes(11.19%)
won fourth place play off vs Tardigrade 35-32

The African elephant has had to fight hard just to get to this stage. Drawn in a group with three of the most popular combatants in the tournament he finished joint fourth with the tardigrade(both just two votes less than third placed Cassowary) who he then went head to head with to claim the best fourth placed beast and final place in the knock out rounds. Now he's here, what does he bring to the table? The first thing you'll notice is the elephants sheer size and strength. It's enormous and enormously strong. Highly intelligent the african elephant is also capable of extreme, uncontrollable rage and aggression. They have been known to attack entire villages. When they do attack heaven help anyone and anything in the Elephants way because total carnage and destruction is about to be unleashed.

No brainer this one. Dumbo should not have even made it to the group stage. Only considered hard due to it's size. This is pound for pound hardness.

Would an Elephant the size of a Sun Bear be hard? No, of course not. But imagine a Sun Bear the size of an Elephant.

Bear - Our car got charged by an Elephant whilst in Africa (so assume it is an African Elephant) but it was all for show and once we had hastily reversed a bit it just stopped and carried on. All mouth an no trousers - that Bear however sounds nuts

I think the elephant gets a harsh rap in this competition. The size card is always played against it which seems a little unfair. Being smaller doesn't automatically make you harder...size should only be an issue of the big beast is a bully or only goes after things considerably smaller whilst the little fella is happy to take on anything. In the case of the elephant it will go on proper head mental rampages when the mood takes it. And the mood takes it when its in Musth(which, incidentally is the hindi word for 'madness'). This is when the elephants testosterone is 60 times higher than usual. Too much testosterone to control so it goes beserk- uprooting enormous trees, attacking entire villages, taking lions, hippos, rhinos and any other beast to (hard) school.

So the elephant is not just 'big'. It is highly aggressive and destructive too. If it was smaller it would still have that attitude and aggression. Give it a chance NSC.

Big fan of the bear. Snippets like this are what the WHC is all about;

attack for no perceptible reason

Bit of a lunatic, nothing to do with predatory instincts is just a bloody headcase. Lovely stuff.

I'm still on the fence as to whether this is hard or just stupidity? Its certainly stupidity/mental if a human does it. :lolol:

But, having said all that I have championed the Sun Bear since day 1 so am going big on the Sun Bear this year.
