THIS is the moment that sparked a triple celebration for Albion and Bobby Zamora.
The legendary striker’s early goal on his 35th birthday earned the Seagulls three vital points at Blackburn to get their promotion challenge back on track.
It ended a run of seven games without a win in the Championship and a goal famine for the team of 9hrs 38mins.
It was also the 82nd goal of Zamora’s two-spell Albion career, sneaking him ahead of another club legend, Peter Ward, and up to fifth on the history list.
Zamora and America-based Ward were voted by Argus readers in the summer as the strike pairing for the all-time Albion X1.
Zamora said: “I’d heard about Peter and he was and is still around the ground quite a bit whenever he is about.
“Obviously, he is a Brighton legend. To be up there with him is pleasing and to keep scoring goals is great.”
Albion’s first away win since October took them back up a place in the table to fifth on 47 points, their finishing total last season.
They now have three home matches in a row to cement their recovery, starting with Huddersfield’s visit on Saturday, when skipper Gordon Greer (hamstring) and striker Sam Baldock (calf) are expected to be back in contention.
After that they host Brentford (February 5) and then Bolton (February 13).
