Dale Stephens wants Albion to attack their way out of a mid-season slump.
The Seagulls midfielder believes a no-frills approach can help them to three points at Blackburn on Saturday.
And he admits a return to their early-season style is in order to arrest a seven-game slide.
Asked what was required to put Albion back on track, Stephens replied: “Don’t be too clever. We have been good this year playing a steady formation, playing 4-4-2.
“We play attacking football and we need to get back to that.
“I don’t think we are miles away. In previous games we have created numerous chances and not gone far wrong.
“We hope Rotherham is a one-off and we hope to get back to our normal selves this coming Saturday.”
Stephens confirmed boss manager Chris Hughton was angry at half-time of the 2-0 reverse at the New York Stadium on Tuesday.
But he added: “I think it is something we needed. We improved slightly in the second half but it wasn’t enough to swing the game our way.
“We needed to change quite a lot. The manager put his point across at half-time and he was obviously not happy.”
Albion could today give more information about the injury which forced Gordon Greer out of the Rotherham game. The skipper limped off late in his comeback from a hamstring problem.
