Beram Kayal wants to help Albion get off to a flyer tonight – after recharging his batteries in FA Cup week.
The man who scored after 17 seconds at Huddersfield earlier this season reckons a brisk start is just what the Seagulls need to shake them out of a bad run.
And he has backed his boss’s decision to allow him to freshen up physically and mentally for Championship action.
Kayal, Dale Stephens, David Stockdale and Bruno were all left out of the third round trip to Hull but will be key players back in Yorkshire at Rotherham tonight (7.45pm) as the Seagulls aims to clamber off the bottom of the Championship current form table.
The Israel international, pictured, told The Argus: “I think it was a good time to have a rest. Bring the energy back.
“Everything here is coming probably from the manager, the physio, the doctor. So they give us a good time to recover and it was good. I’m happy with that.
“Mentally it’s always hard, especially in the Christmas time to the New Year. Too many games.
“We know that’s a tough time but mentally we were always ready to start, always positive to start games.”
Kayal’s cracker at Huddersfield is a contender for Albion’s goal of the year accolade for 2015 but they have not scored for 395 minutes of league action plus 90 in the Cup.
They also drew a blank at Rotherham last term but Kayal said: “From the beginning of the season, always in the first 20-25 minutes we controlled the game and normally we score first and we had a very good start for the games.
“We missed that the last few games.
“Hopefully we are coming back to do the same job and start with the high pressure and hopefully try and score quick goals and give us the lead.”
