With the transfer window upon us, many players will be pondering a move to a 'bigger club'. maybe it's a sign of how far we've come but let's have some examples of players/managers who have left us 'for a bigger club'.

I'll start with three,
Paul McCarthy to Wycombe Wanderers.
Dean Hammond to Colchester United.
Brian Horton, as manager, to Port Vale.

Couldn't remember where he went, at the time thought he was destined for Division 1. Amazing he went there looking back.

I thought Colchester were in the Championship, when Dean Hammond left us, we were in League 1. Therefore it was a step up.

A while ago a made a pigs ear of a similar kind of thread.

Something along the lines of:-
'Players who left the Albion for bigger and better things, but it turns out the Albion was the best they'd ever be'.

In hindsight I can't think why it was so difficult :lol: :facepalm:
