I guess the Lewes/Falmer/Brighton only trains may not be running - the train the that Seaford/Eastbourne selfish snobs refuse to catch after the game because they cannot possibly change at Lewes

Bloody hell! I've so often heard old railwaymen (and, to be fair, some younger ones too) say that the trouble with the railways is that they aren't run by proper railwaymen any more - guess this is a prime example.

Biggest crowd of the year (possibly) at the Amex? - great, good opportunity to save a few bob by running a 'slightly reduced service'.
Enquiry staff? Why would they need to know that a major football match is taking place right next to one of their stations? They've got a timetable on their computers - that should be enough to answer any enquiries; five minutes training - that should do it......

Sorry - rant over!

You mean the ones that rush out of the ground then block the platform ?

Exactly

There were issues last night as well when the 8 car Seaford train left half empty because the Eastbourne people would not get on it so clogged up the platform causing delays for everybody else. The queuing system needs some sort of re-think or EVERYBODY gets on the first train like on the Brighton side.

I missed out by a few people getting onto the platform at an evening game last season and had a quick count up as I walked along the platform to the far end and their were in excess of 180 people on the platform when the gates were opened after the previous train (which I think was the Lewes only) left.

Had exactly this last night. Couldn't get to the train that left about 9.50 because of the speed of the queue, but it left with space still available from what I could see as we just got through the gate. Poss need a 'Lewes only' queue ideally but can't see how they could arrange that and still have the disabled speedy boarding. Still, was back in Burgess Hill just after 10.30 so can't really complain.

This is why we now go home via Brighton, and catch the 12 bus outside the station. We got fed up queuing on the bridge watching half empty trains leave because people refuse to get on and clog up the platform.

Its a difficult one to organise as I can see people ignoring any organised system just to get on the platform irrespective of whether they intend to get on the next train or not.

Just get the stewards / BT police to make people get on the first train. If they don't get on, then they escort them back out of the main entrance and they can rejoin the end of the queue. That way, they can keep going around the loop until they find a train they like.
