Albion boss Chris Hughton has urged his players to maintain the Amex as a fortress for their promotion challenge.
Leaders Middlesbrough attempt to become only the third team to take points off the Seagulls at home in today’s first versus second showdown (12.30).
Cardiff and Preston held Hughton’s side to draws in October, the latter when influential midfielders Dale Stephens and Beram Kayal were both missing.
Unbeaten Albion have won their other eight home games. They still have to entertain four of the top six, starting with Boro, so the home form will be crucial to their hopes.
Hughton said: “It’s massively important. There might be the odd one or two teams that fare better away from home than at home but certainly the majority are always going to feel more comfortable at home, are always going to get the majority of their points at home, and we would be no different.
Hughton said: “They are up there because of the quality they have got, the way they have recruited in the summer and where they were last season. I think this will be our toughest test.”
