Derby 'strenghtened' this time last season when top of the table. It seemed to totally unbalance any team shape and spirit they had and they ended up failing to even make the play-offs. If it's to be done it needs to be handled skilfully.

Very true. Although on the evidence we've seen so far CH is the man to do that.

strengthening was not the problem for Derby, it was that Mclaren wanted to leave to go to Newcastle, they lost it from there, also they lost Martin and Thorme I believe to long term imjuries.
