Putting aside the disappointment of Solly's injury news and throwing away a 2-0 lead for a moment, we achieved/equalled some more records tonight.

As well as extending the club record for unbeaten league games (22 overall, 21 in one season):

We are now 17 games unbeaten in all competitions, equalling the club record from 1987/88.

We are now unbeaten in 12 away league games overall, a new club record.

We are also now unbeaten in 11 away league games in one season, another new club record.

Also unbeaten in 9 away games in all competitions, equalling the club record.

We have 43 points from the first 21 games, equalling the club record from 2001-02.

The only better start (I think!) was in 1926/27 (if there had been three points for a win, the total after 21 games would have been 44).

In terms of unbeaten starts to a second tier season, Brighton have now equalled West Ham's record of 21 games from 1990/91 (and will overtake them if we do not lose to Middlesbrough on Saturday).

The only team to have bettered this is Liverpool, in 1893/94.

Sittingbourne, Kent
and as was said on Sky last night, if we are having a blip at the moment and still picking up points, then when things get back on track we should do fine!

We have a lot of injured players scheduled to come back over the next month or so, who will come back into the team fresh, at a time when many teams' players will be starting to flag!

I was thinking exactly the same but losing Solly for the rest of the season is a big blow. Hopefully Kaz will be ready soon and VLP looks like a decent replacement in the meantime.

Awesome... It is likely, we'll NEVER see another season like this in our life times. Sobering, perspective lending, reality checking.

A wonderful thread, the kind NSC was surely 'created' for.

Just added a few bits to put these fine statistics in context

As well as extending the club record for unbeaten league games (22 overall, 21 in one season):

We are now 17 games unbeaten in all competitions, equalling the club record from 1987/88. When we finished in the second automatic promotion slot, behind Sunderland

When we won the third division title

The only better start (I think!) was in 1926/27 (if there had been three points for a win, the total after 21 games would have been 44). We finished 4th in the 3rd Division South

In terms of unbeaten starts to a second tier season, Brighton have now equalled West Ham's record of 21 games from 1990/91 (and will overtake them if we do not lose to Middlesbrough on Saturday). West Ham were promoted in second place that season

The only team to have bettered this is Liverpool, in 1893/94. When they won the Second Division
