Plymouth Argyle fan in peace …

Hi everyone, I hope you don’t mind that I’ve signed up to your forum with this, but I would like to reach out to as many football fans as possible – no matter what club you support – in the hope of uniting everyone together, in aid of Prostate Cancer.

I belong to a Plymouth Argyle supporters group known as The Green Taverners (see link below to learn more about us)and we have recently joined together with our very own football club (PAFC) to record a single in aid of a charity called The Chestnut Appeal.

This is a charity very close to many peoples’ hearts, that may have affected you or someone very close to you throughout your life time and a charity, we believe, is worthy of raising money for and highlighting the awareness of Prostate Cancer amongst every man.

The song, which features some of our current players, is called ‘The Janners Song’ – which can be viewed via the following link (if you scroll down the page) - and is currently available to pre order on iTunes (99p) and Amazon (79p) – and is due to go ‘live’ on Saturday (12th December).

Whilst our main aim is to raise as much money as possible for Prostate Cancer, for every download you make, this will also help to get our single into the UK charts.

More importantly though – and for less than £1 - ALL of the proceeds will go to The Chestnut Appeal and will be invaluable to helping towards saving many peoples lives.

As one last request – we are working hard towards reaching out to as many people, up and down the country, as possible (including celebrities) using all available social media. If you have a few moments to spare and would like to help us at all, it would be great if we could get the hash tag #Janners running throughout social media to highlight our aims. Please help us by sharing this on facebook or by giving us an RT on the Green Taverners twitter account - it would be a fantastic gesture from you to help us in our quest and one, we know, would be truly appreciated by The Chestnut Appeal charity.

As you will see by this twitter account https://twitter.com/daznotman a fellow Brighton supporter by the name of John Hewitt is trying to lend us a hand by supporting us with the following message:-

"Every football fan can be a #Janner to support Argyle with this charity single. We as Brighton fans got a single in the charts during our campaign to get our new ground. So fans around the country buy or download this single when it comes out, and help them raise a lot of money, and help them get the single in the charts together we can never be defeated".

Apologies for a long post but many, many thanks for taking the time to read this message (if you got this far! :) ), it’s very much appreciated.

The Green Taverners.

Thanks for this. Prostate cancer has affected a few of my family in the past and on reaching 60 years of age it was brought home again when the free bowel cancer testing kit dropped onto the carpet in the post. I hope your appeal does well. Time to get checked

Yes, unfortunately, this has affected people we know too, including an ex Plymouth Argyle goalkeeper, Romain Larrieu and our local BBC radio Devon match commentator, Gordon Sparks. They and others alike who have been affected by Prostate Cancer would urge everyone, for peace of mind, to go and get checked. Our aim is very much to help the charity bring awareness of this to everyone.

Many thanks for your kind words of wishing us well with this. This kind of thing - football aside and any rivalries amongst football clubs - is a time when fans can get together as one for a worthy cause.
