While I can't criticise the sentiment, I feel these kind of things have lost much of their impact due to their regularity. It seems every other game there is a minute's silence or armbands are being worn for one reason or another. It dilutes the impact for me somewhat.

Given there are christmas wishes (or whatever) being read out, I'm sure that this is a far better chance of working and having the desired impact that trying to coordinate 25,000+ people to sing to him "at some point during the game".
