Quite ground breaking at the time and hard to believe it was that long ago, for those that remember the release.

So what is your favourite track off this fine album?

For me it's "In my Life" John Lennon at his best

My favourite Beatles album. The individual tracks might not stand up compared to some of their other works but it's the most consistent and coherent piece of work for me. Track wise, probably Girl or nowhere man.

Good thread. Stunning album. Will give it another listen to remember my favourite track, although Girl is one that is immediately obvious.

Amazing album, in LP form the flip side just edges it for me, the tracks appear to flow so well, probably as the writing was dominated by Lennon with some dark undertones to the lyrics. I'm looking through you, Run for your life, If I needed someone, great music. The A side is still incredible mind you.

Blimey O'Reilly, doesn't feel like 50 years. Doesn't sound 50 years old either...

Thankfully, I am not old enough to remember it being released.

Another vote for In My Life, still an absolutely brilliant song.

"I'm Looking Through You". It's a great album, but a notch below the sublime "Revolver".

Great Album. Rubber Soul & Revolver seem to run together. I remember these from my older brothers having them and now I have them, downloaded, too.

"In My Life" is one of the songs I want at my funeral.

"I'm Looking Through You". It's a great album, but a notch below the sublime "Revolver".

Almost unbelievably, we only have to wait 8 months to celebrate 50 years from the release of Revolver. Upon releasing Rubber Soul it took them just 8 months to get Revolver out. Mind Boggling from a bunch of 25 year old scousers.

Amazing album, for me its Norwegian Wood, A close friend of mine back in the 80s and 90s Richard Smith and I used to duet on guitar, me on the 12 string and Richard on the 6 string, Richard had an amazing voice, we performed at a few charity events and always did Norwegian Wood, I can still hear Richards voice now, amazing memories.

Sadly Richard was taken from us, some 15 years ago now, way to young, only 42.

Sorry if I've been a bit self indulgent, the album, the song, just brings back some wonderful memories for me.

Yes, wonderful words.............

There are places I remember
All my life, though some have changed
Some forever, not for better
Some have gone and some remain
All these places have their moments
With lovers and friends I still can recall
Some are dead and some are living
In my life, I've loved them all

But of all these friends and lovers
There is no one compares with you
And these memories lose their meaning
When I think of love as something new
Though I know I'll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I'll often stop and think about them
In my life, I love you more

Though I know I'll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I'll often stop and think about them
In my life, I love you more
In my life I love you more

Nowhere Man or In My Life for me, although I really like I'm Looking Through You also. Brilliant album.

That's just a wonderful, intelligent lyric. John was my favourite Beatle for so many reasons, but what a band. Love the Beatles at Christmas because their music reminds me of childhood family Christmases. I only have to play With the Beatles to hear the sound of my Hornby Dublo railway engine in the background.

How the **** was that written by someone in their mid-20s. Genuinely incredible.

If I Needed Someone - possibly George's best Beatle song. Sensational vocal harmonies.
