Robotix...and perhaps other obsolete toys that would be great today

I might get my 9 yr old son a Robotix set for Xmas.

I had this set nearly 30 years ago and it was brilliant fun. Don't think there is much like it today, so I'm going to try to pick up a good condition set off flea bay I think.

Any other toys worth resurrecting from history for today's kids!?

For some, it is the eating of a small cake that causes reverie. For me, it was this image. My Nana played this with me for hours on end when I was a small kid. I loved this game, and loved that time with her. It really is remarkable how powerful a single input can be in prompting a recollection of times past.

Meccano. I had hours of fun with that and whilst they are still about, I'm not sure you can buy the assembly kits any more.

Also, does anyone remember a toy from the late 70s where a harrier plane "flew" down a zip wire? I can't remember what it was called but I was trying to explain it to my five year old on Saturday.

Bought one of these for a Christmas day competition. Introduce my nephews to the first electronic game I had as a kid. Still works perfectly.
