Listening to their total works at present. It's incredible that Weller was knocking out songs of such quality at such a young age, but begs the question, where was the high point?

All Mod Cons - the only album I ever knew every word on.

Setting Sons has aged to my ears whereas I've grown more fond of Sound Affects.

But overall All Mod Cons still stands out for me.

Ah. At last, a popular music question I know the answer to. It's Setting Sons, isn't it? What's my prize?

I actually have a thing for the Style Council stuff,..... good mellow and funky tunes.

I've still never forgiven myself for giving my ticket to their final gig at the Brighton Centre to my kid sister, on the grounds that I'd see them play before and she hadn't.

I fell in love with The Gift as it was one of the first albums I bought having started out on Snap!

The real answer is that they are all brilliant.

Can I cheat and have Direction, Reaction, Creation or Fire and Skill that way you get the whole of the Jam years. If pushed to one then Setting Sons

All Mod Cons

It's been downhill for Weller ever since then.

Reckon All Mod Cons was better than Setting Sons by the width of a (top E) guitar string - both, though, were (still are) absolute classics punk:

To be clear, their final gig EVER!

I was lucky enough to be there.

It seems the majority are right, there is no other answer than All Mod Cons. A truely remarkable album. It was also the first proper album I bought, so I am pleased as punch with my choice, my second album was More Specials. I'm pretty damn cool, ain't I?

Went with All Mod Cons but 'twas a close call ... and From The Jam (with Bruce Foxton &Russelll Hastings) are touring now - it's well worth a visit !!
