The Brazilian guy who was shot on the tube ran when challenged, jumped over a ticket barrier and jumped on a tube train. In context with what happened previously I'm surprised he wasn't shot earlier. This is not a computer game where you restart when you fail!

At the risk of sounding like a broken record. NO HE DIDN'T! I didn't plan to get involved in this thread, was just browsing, but why do people stick to 'what they've heard' rather than the widely published facts?

Here's one of the many reports google throws up from well know leftist propaganda machine the mail online : http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-396100/Timeline-The-death-Jean-Charles-Menezes.html

Here's a snippet :

August 16
Leaked documents from the IPCC inquiry, published by ITV news, reveals that Mr de Menezes had done little to arouse suspicion in the minutes before his death.
Far from vaulting a ticket barrier and running down an escalator, he had actually walked into the station at normal pace and paused to pick up a free newspaper.
He was not clad in a bulky coat, but only a light denim jacket.
One police officer said he had been unable to record video footage of the Brazilian because he had been "relieving himself".

That part where the copper was having a slash so they couldn't get video is the reason they were unable to get confirmation that he was not the man they wanted. They f-ed up big time.

On the here illegally point too, he'd entered the UK from Ireland some time before so was here lawfully.

Guessing the Shadow Chancellor isn't that keen on a shoot to kill policy either ....

CBm6diwWYAEWy26.jpg

John McDonnell, Labour's shadow chancellor, called for MI5 and the UK's armed police force to be scrapped in a controversial campaign letter.
A picture has emerged showing Mr McDonnell holding the letter earlier this year, despite claims that he had never seen or signed it.

In a tweet accompanying a picture of him holding the list of demands Labour's shadow chancellor said the campaign: "Is important for ensuring a clear program of socialist demands on a Labour government".

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/pol...for-MI5-and-armed-police-to-be-disbanded.html

The shadow chancellor’s office said on Thursday he believed no such thing and denied he had ever signed the statement, which was prepared before May 2015.

“The letter has never been put in front of John and he’s never signed it,” a spokesman said, pointing out that he had supported extra funding for the security services in the wake of the Paris terror attacks.

Sources close to McDonnell suggested his name might have been included in the list because of a cut and paste error. “These things are normally websites managed by one person and it’s their little hobby horse and it’s not very credible … It’s probably people getting a little bit carried away and just whacking something up.”

However, the Sun then produced a picture of McDonnell holding what appears to be the document, based on a comparison with the campaign material on the SCLV website.

Oops, new style of politics indeed

I have 4 mates over in Australia at the moment and all 4 have overstayed their Visas because they like the life over there and enjoy working there. I would hate to think they would all come home with bullets in their head because they were working hard and enjoying the lifestyle in Australia

Off topic but they are not being very sensible. They may find that they are banned from ever visiting Australia again.

Well the only way we can judge is by leaders poll ratings . Corbyn's were abysmal even before these latest own goals.

Corbyn essentialy doubled the Labour party membership. It clearly indicates a lot of people were not happy with the direction Milliband and co were heading.,. Corbyn will be vilified no matter what he says and does. It's a pretty sad state of affairs in politics where you get more overall respect for lying, conforming or going against your own beliefs.

Of course with hindsight he should not have been shot...And of course many overstay their Visas..but when country on terrorist alert..I believe his lack of response to police demands led to his shooting.

That very unfair on the poor guy. He had no reason to think armed police were going to challenge him and had minimal time to respond before they put a bullet in his head. A tragic incident but one in which you cannot lay any blame whatsoever on de menezes.

Wouldn't suprise me but I thought Labour banned those after the Ed Miliband bacon sarnie photo debacle.

Amazing to think that most Labour voters would probably give anything to have him back leading the party

I'm pretty surprised by this. Shows how bad Cameron is doing IMO.

Yes he has a clear mandate from Labour party members (400k) but I was talking about Labour voters (millions). You'd have thought if his red blooded Socialist message would work anywhere it would work in Scotland. Instead recent polls show SNP still miles ahead and the TORIES actually gaining ground on Labour. There is even a chance Labour could finish third next election.

The Tory section of the press were always going to go for a character like Corbyn but he has helped their cause by making several monumental gaffes. Any reasonable person can see he is clearly not up to the job.

Me too! Cameron is possibly taking a hit because of the tax credit cock up (rightly so) but governments normally lose support in the first years as they push through all the painful policies. Your link also shows the Conservatives have a very healthy lead over Labour so I doubt the PM will be that worried.

I think so many people do not trust Labour after their 13 years in power before. The economy, immigration being high up on voters priorities, where Labour did rather badly.
I think that Milliband was a weak and bad choice, i assumed they would get a decent leader in to replace him. Unfortunately they went for Jeremy.

If Labour were to get in next time, JCs non shoot to kill policy wouldn't matter cos the Tories would have sold the old bills guns to G4S

Yes but they would lease them back .. for a price. But you are right it wouldn't matter in Corbyn's Britain coz a worthy lecture is a well known deterrent to psychopathic terrorism.

Maybe JC should engage with the terrorists....with Diane Abbott in tow, that could do the trick. Explain that they will be ok because he will implement a "non shoot to kill policy" which might give them a chance to detonate themselves, oh and add for good measure that the Trident deterrent might have the button locked because he will have no intention of pushing it.
