Jake Forster-Caskey is relishing the prospect of lining up alongside his Brighton & Hove Albion team-mates when England’s under-21s host Switzerland in a Euro 2017 qualifier at the Amex.
*
The 21-year-old is delighted that he, Christian Walton and Solly March have been named in Gareth Southgate’s 21-man squad for the game on Monday 16th November
*
He said, “Solly, Christian and me are involved so we’re all looking forward to it and working hard to keep ourselves in the squad.
*
“It’s nice when they’re there because you already have a bond with them playing at your club.
*
“They’re there because they’ve got talent. Solly has been playing a lot and has been proving what he can do and Christian has performed well in the games he’s been involved in.
*
"Hopefully I can play at the Amex because it will be a special one to remember, not only for myself, but for family and friends as well.”

The midfielder enjoys a good working relationship with under-21 coach Gareth Southgate and stressed the importance of playing regular international football at a young age.
*
“All the boys enjoy working with Gareth and we really enjoy meeting up with the squad. He’s made it an exciting place to be and wants people to enjoy themselves; we all do that.
*
“Whenever you’re playing for your country, you know there are lots of people watching and you have to perform.
*
“It’s a slightly different pressure to playing for your club, but you’ve always got to perform whenever you put the shirt on.
*
“International football is very different to club football, but for us as young players, you are learning about different styles of play.”
*
Forster-Caskey feels it is crucial that players from the under-21s are given a chance to progress into the senior set-up and says that is the aim of everyone in the squad.
*
“It’s vital and it’s good for the boys that are in there at the moment, because we look up to the players that have stepped up.
*
“It makes you think that you can get there; that’s everybody’s aspiration and that’s what we want to do.
*
“We want to play for England’s first team and the only way to do that is to play well for the under-21s and your club.”
