IDS "rebelling"?

When even IDS, the bane of poor people everywhere, is today reportedly refusing to kowtow to the Chancellor's demands for a 25% cut in his flagship Universal Credit budget while Osborn's family firm benefits from avoiding taxation in every year in which he has held the office, what hope is there that the "we are all in this together" mantra will continue to hold sway?
Could it be that this and the very apparent "miscalculation" of policing cuts are the beginning of the end for Gorgeous George?

Well done to IDS for threatening to quit if there is a reduction in Universal credits to pay for the Chancellor's misjudgement on tax credits. Bane of poor people? Shirley their champion

Is this a gambit by Osborne, as speculated by some in the press, aimed at cutting the budgets of any likely leadership challengers? Presumably, the thinking being if he imposes cuts these ministers have to implement, they'll be the fall guys in the public's eyes and he'll look good in comparison.

IDS has had his chance already though, surely.

Perhaps Osborne just doesn't like the man?

I never thought the day would come when I said 'Hats off to George Osborne'.

Disagree with a lot of Osborne's policies, but IDS has no redeeming features at all. His attitude to the disabled is scandalous, and his management of the Universal Credit benefit system is at least £10,000,000,000 over the initial budget, suggesting he is incompetent as well as callous.

despite this being the second time he's stood up to steer a gradual change rather than Osborn style hacking at the budget? UC in principle is a good idea, it is over budget no different from any other government IT project. they cant do IT, because they don't understand it and get hoodwinked by the consultancy industry. i understood much of IDS policy are based off Frank Field's work on how to overhaul welfare.

Yup.

It was IDS who closed Remploy, which provided employment with those with social and learning difficulties.

It was IDS who described those with disabilities as 'not normal'.

It was IDS who introduced the Bedroom Tax, which is a crass way of saving money

It was IDS whose department is denying disabled people access to transport and therefore affecting their independence and self-esteem.

IDS is a bit thick, and has got where he is due to marrying into money. No redeeming qualities at all IMO.

IDS is a Tory. That's all we need to know when it comes to his civic mindedness.

Lied on his CV, army bag carrier as he wasn't fit for anything else, investigated for fraud whilst leader of the Tories and now leader of a department that is being investigated by the UN for human rights abuses so if IDS wants to rebel let him feel free to do so.

He is one of the most despicable people ever to walk on this planet.

The default is 20 posts to the page, though, so it's just twice on the same page!

Apologies. I appear to be defaulted to 10 posts a page (on the basis I've done nothing to change any settings).
Any repeat of IDS' heinous behaviour is worth repeating though regardless :lolol:

The man is a prize ****ing ****, as is Osborne. I hope their feud spirals out of control to such a degree that they both hire thugs to take the other out in a blaze of bloody glory
