First time Cricket Club have done the display. Previous years it has been organised there by the Rotary I think, and has been excellent. This year the Club saw a chance to collar the event for themselves and told the Rotary to sling their hook. Rotary display is now at the Racecourse on Friday.

Actually it was Brighton Lions not Rotary. Sussex Cricket Club were entirely dishonest in their dealings with the Lions this year. They said they didn't want fireworks in the ground as it would damage the outfield. Then all of a sudden they arrange their own display. The Lions display gave all the takings to charity ( minus running costs and the Lions take no wages ). Sussex Cricket Club are keeping 50% of the takings for themselves AND paying staff.

If you want to see a display go to the Racecourse on Friday night - then you know your money is going to local charitable schemes and not into the cricket club.

Had no Idea it was for Shoreham.

SOME of the money is going to Shoreham - at least 50% is going to the cricket club. The remaining money is being split between three charities - Shoreham being one of them. The club have mentioned Shoreham to cynically persuade people to go to their display.
