I believe Aldershot participated in this very competiton,I won't dwell on the score but the fact they qualified for it you must of had a good season

Came 6th the season before and missed promotion by 6 points ,but were highest scores in the Division so qualified. Sheff Utd beat us 6 0 on August 1st 1970 ,I wasn't there i was 3 days old bad fan .correct

I often wondered why we didn't play in the Watney Cup scoring 80 odd goals under Pat Saward in 71-72
then I read today teams that got promoted were excluded
ironically Bristol Rovers in the same division as us went on to win it!
