My memory of him is ZCars (I must be getting old). Didn't realize he wrote the screen play for Chariots of Fire. Kind of actor who would appear in most cop shows in the 70's (Sweeney etc) in a similar way that soap stars appear in casualty these days.

Liked him in that ITV sitcom Cowboys. Never guessed at the time he was an accomplished writer. Just assumed he was a jobbing actor.
