Liam Rosenior has backed Albion goalkeeper David Stockdale to shrug off the error which gifted Reading an equaliser.
Matej Vydra earned the home side a point from the rebound after Stockdale spilled Nick Blackman’s second-half shot.
Team-mate Rosenior told The Argus: “He’s been fantastic all season and I’m sure he’ll keep his performance levels up.
“He’s been better than pretty good, not just in terms of his goalkeeping, in terms of his distribution. He is a massive part of the team the way we play.
“You see him hitting 60-yard crossfield passes like they are nothing and it’s got to a point where people are expecting it of him.
“To be fair to Blackman, he hit the ball really well and as defenders we have always got to follow in. Unfortunately Vydra, who is a very good striker, got there first but no blame goes to Stocks.
“Maybe we should have blocked the shot before it got to him, so there are always little things you can look at. It’s always easy to point the finger of blame at Stocks but none of us have done that because we know what an important part of the team he is and what a fantastic goalkeeper he is.”
Jamie Murphy finished off a passing move involving Bruno, Sam Baldock and Tomer Hemed to tuck Albion ahead at the Madejski Stadium.
Rosenior said: “We scored a goal that should be replayed time and time again. If Barcelona had scored it people would be talking about it for weeks. It was a fantastic team goal.”
Albion, now unbeaten in 14 games and two points clear at the top of the Championship, have drawn five of their last seven matches.
Rosenior, switched from right-midfield to left-back with Gaetan Bong injured, added: “We are so close to becoming that team where we go a goal up and can get that second goal.
“If we can get that into our locker I think we’ve got a fantastic chance of doing really well this year, albeit it it’s a good start and something to build on.
“But we need to keep our performance levels up, go to Sheffield Wednesday (tomorrow night) and try to get a result there.”
