Albion had to settle for a 0-0 draw at home to Preston – and were left hoping for good news on their left-back.
Gaetan Bong was stretchered off towards the end of a dull stalemate at the Amex with what looked like a knee problem.
That left the Seagulls down to ten men and they held on to extend their unbeaten record to 13 games.
Substitute Joe Garner had the best chance to hand them their first defeat but volleyed over from close in during nine minutes of added time.

England under-21 goalkeeper Jordan Pickford made a super save from the returning Jamie Murphy in the first half, diving to his left to parry a 20-yard shot after a clever free-kick.But, although Murphy was lively at times, Albion struggled to break down a well-organised Preston side.
There was not a lot of threat at the other end, although North End appealed for a penalty as Jordan Hugill challenged with Lewis Dunk.
Bruno had to head a Garner header off the line to keep the Seagulls on terms during a dull second half.
