Albion boss Chris Hughton has warned Preston to expect extra enthusiasm from Jamie Murphy at the Amex today.
The energetic Scottish winger is hoping for the 250th start of his career on his comeback from suspension.
It is not so much the possibility of a landmark appearance as the return from a three-match ban for a controversial red card at Bolton last month which Hughton believes will put an extra spring in Murphy’s step.
Albion failed with an appeal against the Glaswegian’s punishment for a tackle on Bolton’s Neil Danns after he slipped.
Hughton told The Argus: “He has coped very well. It’s always a realisation, a bit like being out injured for a period of time.
“Like Kazenga Lualua, which has ended up being a four-week (groin) injury, if you know that then you need to adjust and get your mindset right.

“The good news for Jamie is that he has trained every day, on things he needs to work on and also wants to work on. “You then hope when the time comes around the enthusiasm levels to be playing have got even greater.”
Murphy scored against Preston in the FA Cup for Sheffield United last season. They were promoted from League One with Bristol City and, like Tuesday’s narrow victims at the Amex, arrive off the back of an uplifting result.
Hughton is expecting a similarly troublesome test against Simon Grayson’s side for his Championship leaders as Albion try to stretch their unbeaten start to 13 games.
He said: “Preston are on the back of a really good away win (3-0) at Charlton, so they’ll be on a high.
“Most teams’ physical outputs are the same. They work hard and, coming to the Amex, a lovely stadium and pitch, I wouldn’t expect any different.”
