Just watching it now. RIP...he was a member of a really special Everton League Championship-winning side built around a Harvey - Ball - Kendall - Morrisey midfield.
I saw them tonk West Ham 4-1 at the Boleyn that season.

I remember him playing for Preston North End in the 1964 cup final, at that time he was the youngest player ever to appear in a Wembley final, aged just 17.
That was a fantastic Everton side.

It a reminder no English manager has ever won the Premier League. RIP Howard, a great operator...

No, but winning he old first division was a greater achievement - 21 other teams you had to finish ahead of, not a paltry nineteen! Football didn't start in the 1990s!

Great memories of Kendall the player. As a 17 year old, playing for second division Preston North End in an FA Cup final, he bossed the game (and Alex Dawson scored). Preston were unlucky to lose.

Saw him at Goodison too - that midfield three of Ball, Harvey and Kendall was one of the best, if not THE best, of that era, feeding big Joe Royle up front, with Jimmy Husband and Johnny Morrisey out on the wings. Great team.

Kendall is probably the best English player never to play for England.

RIP.

Youngest player in an FA Cup Final 1964 for Preston NE. Also in the team were Alex Dawson and Nobby Lawton, Albion favourites a few seasons later.
One of the trinity inc Ball and Harvey who won the FA Cup and the League.
First game of the 84/85 season Everton lost 4 nil at home to Spurs but still went on to win the league.
Should have won the double in the the game that had the first sending off in an FA Cup Final.
Unable to play in Europe of course.

Didn't they win the European Cup Winners tournament in 1985 under Kendall ?
