What team's crowd is being thrilled by Liam's unquestionable talent these days?

I haven't seen any mention of any classic Liam Bridcutt own goals lately and realise that he's way too good to condescend to wear the stripes at The Amex, but who is being mesmerised by his god given talents these days?

Last seen on the bench for Sunderland on the 15th August, not been involved since and hasn't appeared in any U21 games either, maybe's he injured or he's training with the U18 squad.

A fully functioning, focused Bridcutt would walk into any team in the Championship.

But he can **** off as far as I'm concerned.

He's a true anchor man. He does that job very, very well but that's all he does. Our two CMs need to be able to pass, get up and down the pitch and put a tackle in. Both Stephens and Kayal can do this, however Bridcutt only does the 'tackling' (usually interceptions) bit. I honestly don't think he'd displace anyone in the team right now, but would walk in if Stephens or Kayal weren't fit.

So here's a thing. Just suppose Kayal or Dale got a bit injured, would you rather have Bridcutt or Ince to step in as a replacement?

Oooooooh fractal!

Interesting comment, with our 4-4-2, would you see him starting ahead of Stephens & Kayal? (in theory)

I don't see him fitting into our current 4-4-2 ahead of either of them. He was great for us under the Poyet system but Hughton's approach this season is vastly different and Bridcutt isn't the sort of midfielder that gets forward enough in that formation.

And neither were Ince and Crofts.

It would be just the breakthrough we need - ditch our Jurassic 442, slot Bridcutt in behind Stephens and Kayal (they can wander further up the field if they want) and then as well as being able to roll the ball across the back four and back, they could push it up to LB who could distribute it masterfully back to them. It would mean only one up front of course, but that wouldn't matter as the ball wouldn't venture out of our half much.
We'd just all be enjoying that good, quality, modern, possession football again that we're missing so badly now that we're going out and crudely attacking teams by putting the ball in their penalty area. Pffft! Stone age football..............

Overrated player, can do a job in this division in specific formations, but found out in the Prem. Another glaring Gus error in the transfer market signing him for Sunderland.

Absolutely this. Both Bridcutt and Buckley overrated players who could do a reasonable job in the Championship, but have been found out in the Premier League.

Bridcutt was and still is a fantastic footballer. The problem is he plays a very specialised role in a specialised formation to get the best out of him. I think in our team he'd be a bit of a square peg in a round hole trying to fit in.

Don't know, don't care - just wish he was still on our books.

One player never wanted to leave, still lives in the area and was a Hoskins broken foot away from returning to the club.

The other went on paid strike to stop himself getting injured while still contracted by the club.

One is Glenn Murray and the other is Liam Bridcutt. From their popularity levels on here it's incredible which is which.
