Chris Hughton discusses Jamie Murphy’s failed red card appeal, home advantage in October, missing wingers and Andrew Crofts’s return.Hughton on three games at the Amex out of the next four:
"We are pleased for the supporters because they have had two long away days, and as we know most games, unless they’re London ones, are usually going to be long trips. The support has been tremendous at both the recent away games. They have been terrific at home games too. I think they have liked what they have seen this season and we have a responsibility to try and keep that going and its one that always has to work both ways."
On Jamie Murphy's unsuccessful red card appeal:
"I find it very hard to understand, we were confident that our appeal would be successful and we would get the decision that we feel, still now, would be the right decision. It seems incredibly harsh for a lad who has never been sent off before, in a challenge that you can see there’s no intent and nothing malicious in the challenge. He slipped as did many players on the day, with no obvious intent, no strong contact apart from sweeping the player away, no studs up, no legs raised. I found it very hard to understand why it hasn’t been overturned and to miss three games for that is incredibly harsh. We are going to miss a player for three games who has been playing very well for us, in good form, and scored a goal for us in that game."

On Kazenga LuaLua and Jamie Murphy both being unavailable:"Our two natural left-sided players are out, but these are the situations that you have to be able to deal with. We have a strong and competitive squad at the moment, we have been fortunate over the season so far with injuries, we have picked up a few knocks of late but at the moment, apart from Kazenga [and Jamie being suspended], we have everyone available. These are the challenges we have to get around; we have to make sure we get on with it."
On Andrew Crofts's return to the squad:
"It's hugely important for us and everyone is delighted for him. He's had a tough time with a couple of bad injuries and testament to him that there isn't anybody that works harder than he has to get back to where he is now. The relationship with him and the medical department has been very good, the fact that it's the second injury he has had, the process has been very good, we have taken our time and worked it correctly. At this moment he is in a good place, firstly for him and of course for us; we know it is going to be a hard and challenging season and you want all your quality players available. Certainly from an injury and fitness point of view he is ready; of course what he hasn't had is minutes on the pitch. There is a difference between the training levels and development games then being absolutely ready for a Championship game. You never know until someone is in that position, but he certainly has worked hard enough for it."
